On Friday the children had their third visit to Craigmonie woods. We were very lucky to be joined by Sandra Reid, Forest Ranger from Forestry Commission Scotland.
Sandra taught us a game about mini beasts and predictors, we then played a group activity where we had to match the woodland animals with their winter homes. After this, the children worked in their groups to explore bugs that were in one area of the woods – they loved exploring the different bugs that they found!
The children went on to create their impressive bug hotels! We finished off our woodland session, with finding out information about bats -including the sizes that bats can grow up to – and played a game called ‘bats and moths’.
Next week the school will take part in our annual sponsored walk. From our walk, we will spent a little time in the woods as we conclude our last visit to Craigmonie woods; as part of our John Muir Award.
