Funny debating

Yesterday we had a fun debating task.

We were put into different groups and were given different scenarios including: who should stay on the boat, who should win a million pounds, who should be granted three wishes from a genie and who should go to Hogwarts to train as a wizard.

The children could choose to be themselves or a different person; we had some famous people debating including Olly Murs, Ariana Grande and Theresa May to name a few!

The children spoke with lots of confidence and persuasion on why they should win from their group. Fantastic reasons were shared too.

Easter bonnet decorating at the Care Centre

Yesterday, we went to the Care Centre to decorate Easter bonnets. The residents were really impressed with how well the children worked in their pairs, as well as how creative they were in their bonnet decorating. The residents then chose two pairs are the winners.

Homework and Profiles

There will be no homework this week, as it is the last week of the term.

Can all profile jotters and files please be returned to the school, no later than Wednesday.

Thank you 🙂

Dance Mat Typing

As part of our digital skills targets, some children have identified that they would like to get better at typing and learning the letters on a computer/laptop keyboard.

We will have opportunities to practice typing skills this week and will be using Dance Mat Typing on BBC Bitesize. The link for this is below, in case this is something that your child would like to practice more at home.

Miss MacLennan 🙂

Yesterday’s Secret Task

Yesterday the Primary 4 and 5 children came together, to take part in a secret creative task. We won’t be sharing what it is, but you will find out on Friday!  🙂

Egg decorating competition

Easter egg decorating competition – Each year we ask the children to decorate a hard-boiled egg in class.  These are then judged and a winner and a runner up from each year receive an Easter egg at our assembly.  Children are asked to bring an undecorated hard-boiled egg on Wednesday, 3rd April.  They can also bring in egg cups/holders and extra art materials if they wish.  The school will provide glue, paint and various art resources so that everyone can create something in the time given.  (Polystyrene eggs can be provided for anyone who requires an alternative e.g. for allergies.)

McRobert Cup

Well done to all of the Glenurquhart Primary school children who took part in this year’s McRobert Cup! An extra special well done goes to our Primary 4/5 team – who were all feeling nervous and excited about taking part.

We missed you all in class today but knew that you would all be doing your best in your races!

Unfortunately, I never  managed to get a photo of them on their return, but here is a team photo before they left. 🙂
